Meet the team
Eppo Eerkes
Board MemberAfter obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering in 1986, Eppo has been employed as a professional engineer. He is a subject matter expert in hydraulic modeling of urban water and wastewater systems. Like Elly and Linda, Eppo has been an active member of his church’s Newcomers to Canada committee and has been involved in many refugee sponsorships. He has volunteered with Big Brothers and Out of the Cold and has served several terms on the board of the church that he attends.
Judy Eerkes
Ex Officio Member of the BoardJudy obtained an Honours BA in Sociology, with a Minor in Psychology in 1984. Judy was employed as a Senior Director and Behavioral Therapist at Karis Disability Services, formerly Christian Horizons, for about 16 years. She worked for 17 years as a Senior Therapist, Consultant and Clinical Leader at McMaster Children’s Hospital in the area of autism spectrum disorder. In addition to volunteering for many years with Out of the Cold, she has been on the board of directors and the executive committee of Karis Disability Services for 19 years and thus, brings considerable expertise to the JustWay Homes Board.
Elly Hoff
Board MemberElly obtained a BA in Education in 1974. Thereafter, she taught for 21 years and then joined the family business in 1975 where she is part owner and VP of Human Resources. She has been a board member of United Way, as well as an active member of her church’s Newcomers to Canada committee. She is also a leader in Friendship, a group that supports adults with disabilities. In her role at Meyers Fruit Farms and Greenhouses, Elly meets many new Canadians looking to start life in Canada with meaningful work.
Bram Hoff
Board MemberAfter obtaining his Teacher’s and Principal's certificate, Bram taught primarily French and Music for 36 years. He retired in 2009. He has been an active board member of a major Canadian union, of which he served as the president for 4 years. He is also an active member of a committee in St. Catharines which raises money to help parents who cannot afford Christian education.
Linda Lensink
Ex Officio Member of the BoardLinda obtained a BA in English and a Minor in History in 1979. Linda taught for many years in schools located in the Niagara Region. She taught ESL, special education, and senior high school English. Linda has served on the Newcomers to Canada committee of the church that she attends for many, many years and has been involved in many refugee sponsorships. Given her considerable experience with newcomers to Canada, she is a valuable member of the JustWay Home board. Linda has defined much of the vision and mission for JustWay Homes. She also served on the board of a marriage ministry, with her husband, Martin, for over 20 years.
Martin Lensink
PresidentMartin obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management in 1980. Martin is licensed to practice professional engineering in the province of Ontario. After a 21 year “apprenticeship period” with 5 companies, Martin started an engineering firm in 2001, which he sold recently to his nephew. Martin has served on the board of two churches and the board of a Christian school. He also served on the board of a prominent marriage ministry for over 20 years. Martin acts as the president of the JustWay Homes Board.
Josh Van Muyen
TreasurerJosh has obtained post-secondary degrees in Business Administration as well as a diploma in Construction Engineering Technology. Josh has been working since 2013 as a building design consultant developing working drawings for permit applications and project tenders. Josh has served on the property administration board of the church that he attends since 2017. As a certified technician with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), he brings considerable knowledge of housing construction and design to the JustWay Homes Board. Josh is accountable for the finances of JustWay Homes.
Helen Verkuyl
SecretaryHelen obtained an Honours BA majoring in Urban Studies and Geography in 1988 and is a registered Architectural Technologist in Ontario. Helen spent a 30-year career as a building code official and bylaw officer with a large municipality in Ontario. After retirement, she obtained her real estate salesperson license and practiced for 7 years. She has held a wide variety of leadership positions on church boards and committees for roughly 35 years and was a member of a board of a nonprofit affordable rental initiative in Richmond Hill for 4 years. With expertise in the Ontario Building Code and a skilled negotiator, Helen brings considerable strength to the JustWay Homes board. Helen acts as the Secretary of the JustWay Homes board.
